Years of Experience
Ms. Stella Anton
Dear Lyceumers, Lyceum International School Wattala was established on 3rd September 2001 with the intention of offering value based education to the children of our Motherland. During the past 18 years we have seen a significant development in our school. Being the largest international school in our beautiful Island, we have grown into a large family consisting of 5600 students with a staff strength of 600. As a principal and educator, I have high expectations for our students. In the classroom, on the playground, and in the community, I encourage best effort, a positive attitude, and a sense of personal responsibility among our children. I want them to be enthusiastic, confident, and inquisitive learners. To promote student success, it is important for me that my staff, parents and students become partners in this journey that we have embarked upon. It is essential that all of us come to school every day happy and ready to give it our best. We see every child for the hope that they are. So, we put forth our best to imbibe in every child treasures of high moral value and ethics like honesty, perseverance, humility and hard work. At Lyceum we give them varied platforms to voice their opinions on important social issues, showcase their talents and have discussions with other students and experts to widen their horizons. Our aim is to provide a pragmatic environment offering a healthy array of co-curricular programmes. My sincere appreciation to the Management, the dynamic staff, students, parents for their continuous support and cooperation to help us achieve our mission statement “Produce global citizens who will reshape the vision of their motherland.” I also thank the parents for placing their trust in us by selecting our school among all for enrolling their children for a better education.

“Hatred does not cease by hatred, but by love alone”. These immortal words of the Buddha ring true today more than ever, at a time when our Nation has been literally engulfed in flames as a result of recent socio-economic and political upheavals. As the Buddha often advised, violence is never the answer to conflict. Hence, on this Vesak Poya Day, it is important for all to remember these timeless words and heal ourselves through compassion. It is only then that we can go forward as a Nation.
Grade 3, 4, & 7 Students Showcased their powerful innate talents under different themes at the assemblies held on 25th, 26th, & 27th May with the support of their respective Class teachers, Assistant Teachers, and language teachers. By all means, the Assemblies held were successful.
