Anuradhapura
Genuli Weerakoon studying in Grade 5 at Lyceum International School Anuradhapura, started putting up her imaginations as stories from the age of 8 years. Since she was a small child, she loved books and enjoyed listening to stories. With the assistance from her family and teachers gradually she started reading by her own. Starting from picture books she moved on to reading chapter books written for young readers. With her great interest in reading, she started writing her own books to share her imaginations with others. THIKO is the first book published by her. In this story, using her own imaginary bird THIKO, she shows the importance of thinking and planning before implementing anything or even talking. All the pictures included in this book are her own illustrations. These illustrations reflect the bird THIKO in her imaginary world. She added a glossary with meanings at the end of the book to help improve the language skills of the readers. Moreover, she included a sticker activity, to add more joy to her young readers. Later a second edition of this book was published by ‘Samudra Book Publications
